











Autostrada Biennale and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung office in Kosovo organized the two-day International Conference "Revolution Is Us" in the framework of the second edition of the international contemporary art biennale.
The conference, organized on 21 and 22 July, gathered in Prizren many artists, curators and professionals from various fields, addressing social, political and cultural issues.
On the second and final day of the conference the discussions took place in two panels.
In the first panel on "Social and artistic movements in the Balkans and beyond - their impact on society" discussed: Nemanja Cvianovič, Vladan Jeremic, Tomasso Pincio and Milan Zivkovic, moderated by Hajrulla Çeku.
The topic of discussion was the Balkans, which for the fact that it is a region with many problems can turn into a muse and inspiration for artists.
Speaking of the 1990s, it was said that the Balkans were experiencing its revolution when political and social developments were accompanied by high artistic activism.
Speaking of the present, it was said that "all countries in the Balkans see art as an additional medium in their resistance.”
While it was assessed that Kosovo is the most suitable place in the Balkans to make contemporary art and the right place for a contemporary art biennial.
"Innovation as (R)evolution" was the theme of the second panel, with speakers Frank Hantke, Giacinto Di Pietrantonio and Bujar Ejupi, moderated by Besa Luzha. In this discussion was emphasized the uncontested importance of the school as the institution in which the country is built. Among the key recommendations from this panel was that to children and young people should me spoken more about art and culture, encouraging them to pursue careers in the fields they like, to be distinguished professionals and changemakers of the future.
The International Biennial of Contemporary Art – Autostrada Biennale will be open until September 21, 2019.
