Blerta Hashani’s painting practice is deeply rooted in the landscape of Mirash, her birthplace in southern Kosovo, yet it expands to engage with broader rural environments. In an era when rural life is often romanticized or dismissed, Hashani offers a grounded reflection on tradition. Her work juxtaposes expressive depictions of animals and landscapes with abstract, intuitive forms, developing a poetic visual language that speaks to the complexities of place, belonging, and the evolving realities of the rural world.
Hashani is a visual artist working across painting, drawing, and photography. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Prishtina in 2019. Her practice is deeply rooted in everyday experience and rural memory, drawing inspiration from mysticism, symbolism, and the transformation of the ordinary. She has participated in residency programs such as the Milvus Artistic Research Center (Sweden) and Kulturpunkt PROGR (Switzerland). Her first artist publication, “A Story upon the Green” (2024), documents her site-specific work created for the Mill of Nazif in Mirash.
