Stephanie Rizaj (b. 1989) lives and works in Brussels and Vienna.
Blinded Tongues (2025)
Stephanie Rizaj’s multidisciplinary practice delves into themes of class, identity, and power structures, exploring collective belonging through sculpture, installation, video, and textiles. Her examination of fragility and resilience resonates with the Hammam’s transformation. For the 5th Autostrada Biennale, Rizaj presents a new large-scale installation made from clothing labels—fragments of mass-produced garments—carefully transformed through a slow, manual process into a powerful commentary on labor, value, and the untold stories of daily life. In doing so, she deepens the conversation around human existence and labor within the context of the Hammam’s evolving identity.
