For the 5th edition of the Autostrada Biennale, projects like Tamara Grčić’s installation take full advantage of the expansive hangar space. Her work features 11,611 glass bottles, withdrawn from industrial use and transformed into performers. These bottles, arranged in hues of green and brown, respond to the sunlight and the movement of the wind, spilling across the hangar floor like a shimmering, living stream. Freed from their original function, the bottles partake in a transient choreography, shaped by light, air, and sound. Ultimately, they return to the production cycle to be fully recycled, completing a circular journey from industrial creation to artistic expression and back again.
Since 2014, Grčić has been a Professor of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Mainz, Germany. Since 1992, she has held numerous individual and group exhibitions in Germany and internationally.
