“Your Country Doesn’t Exist” is an ongoing campaign from Libia Castro and lafur Ólafsson, which started in 2003 in Istanbul. The beginning of that year was marked by the largest global anti war protests until today, held againat the invasion of Irag by the U.S. and its allies. Since then, the project has travellec: the world spreading the sentence, “Your country doesn’t exist” in different languages, intervening in public spaces indoors and outdoors, and including different media and formats, such as: billboards, posters, TV and radio advertisements, post-stamps, newspaper ads, magazine covers, T-shirts, videos, musical performances, drinks cans, wall-drawings and neon graffiti, among others. “Your Country Doesn’t Exist” was launched for the first time with the artist’s exhibition “20 Minus Minutes” at Platform Garanti CAC Istanbul in 2003.
