“Common Spaces” a new project from Autostrada Biennale supported by the US Embassy in Prishtina and co-financed by Prizren Municipality.
We are happy to launch a new project by Autostrada Biennale entitled “Common Spaces” that is supported by the U.S. Embassy Pristina, Kosovo as a Democracy Commission project and co-financed by the Prizren Municipality. Today we came together to sign the co-financing agreement with Shaqir Totaj – Mayor of Prizren, Kelsey De Rinaldis – Acting Public Affairs Officer, Public Affairs, U.S. Embassy in Pristina, and Leutrim Fishekqiu – Co-founder of Autostrada Biennale.
As an extension of the newly established education and production space in the Autostrada Hanger at ITP Prizren, we will develop a project we are calling “Common Spaces” which will serve to invite people in, functioning as a gathering area for youth and the community to come together and cultivate inter-ethnic communication over social, cultural, economic, or environmental issues at the local level.
Through education, onsite training, and an open production exhibition, our aim is to develop new models of cultural production that empower the creative sector as a motor for sustainable development.
It will be a space where young people can help design and feel part of the development, to bring about discussion and hopefully, positive change as a place where their ideas and voices can be built, expressed and heard. The space with its two studios, industrial design workshop, and technological lab, along with its education program employing experts in their fields, will increase employment among young people in fields related to art, technology, and innovation.
