Hangars 3, 9, and 10 – along with public spaces throughout the Innovation and Training Park (ITP) Prizren – have been transformed into exhibition venues for the 5th edition of Autostrada Biennale.
Hangars, once located on the outskirts of Prizren, are now part of the city’s dynamic Innovation and Training Park. In the early 1900s, the site served as a camp for Ottoman soldiers, later housing Yugoslav military forces. After the Kosovo War in the late 1990s, the area became a base for the German Bundeswehr, remaining so until Kosovo’s declaration of independence in 2008, when a gradual process of demilitarization began.
Today, the site has become a thriving hub for innovation and business. Autostrada Biennale is part of this growing ecosystem and was the first organization to transform two of the Hangars into cultural spaces—now operating year-round as a Center for Contemporary Art. These monumental hangars are open to the public every day, hosting exhibitions, educational programs, public events, and artist residencies.
This latest expansion, taking place during the fifth edition of Autostrada Biennale and made possible through an ongoing partnership with ITP Prizren, features a wide range of newly commissioned and site-specific works—including installations, paintings, performances, and photography. By extending the Biennale into these distinctive spaces, the program invites audiences to experience contemporary art in a new and meaningful context.
