JOIN US IN PRESANTATION OF THE VIDEO INSTALLATION “MËMA MË FAL – MAMMA PERDONAMI” BY ARTIST GENNY PETROTTA

Join us today, December 1st, for an immersive experience as we present the video installation “Mëma Më Fal – Mamma perdonami” by artist Genny Petrotta. The showcase will take place between 21:00 - 22:00 at Autostrada Hangar, ITP Prizren.

Genny Petrotta’s project, “Mëma Më Fal – Mamma perdonami,” which recently won the twelfth edition of the Italian Council, explores the cultural heritage of the Arbëreshë community in Sicily and the history of peasant uprisings.

As part of the Residency on the Road 2023 Production Fellowship, hosted by Autostrada Biennale in collaboration with the Allianz Foundation Hubs Network, Genny Petrotta has had the opportunity to expand the horizons of “Mamma Perdonami.” The project involves working with local craftsmen to recreate period-appropriate props, such as the traditional Albanian hat called Plis and the title of the work in filigree. The process is documented through video and audio mediums, with the aim of enriching the upcoming video shoots scheduled in Piana degli Albanesi in early 2024. The project in Prizren serves as a prologue within this broader initiative, incorporating a poetic dimension where documentation footage is accompanied by the singing of a young girl. This symbolic exercise of her voice prepares us for the compelling story associated with “Mamma Perdonami.”

The video installation “Mëma Më Fal – Mamma perdonami” was created by Genny Petrotta in 2023, co-produced by Autostrada Biennale and Studio Rizoma, and supported by the Allianz Foundation and Italian Council 2023, Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, Italian Ministry of Culture.
