SEZAI SURROI SPORTS CENTER

Built in 1975, Sezai Surroi Sports Center was part of a project that consisted of seven sports centers, with the same architectural design, dispersed in seven cities in Kosovo during the Yugoslav period. The building has witnessed various historical moments and political shifts: In 1979, the Women’s World Championship of Handball was held at the center. During the Kosovo War in 1999, prisoners were held at the complex by the police before being sent to jail. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the sports hall became the main vaccination center of Prizren. The facility is 1,500 square meters and has two thousand seats. Besides sporting events, including basketball, handball, tennis, running, wrestling, karate, and boxing, this site is occasionally used for concerts, music festivals, and various cultural activities. The building is currently undergoing renovations after more than thirty years.
